Tinjdad, Morocco – The Moroccan Royal Navy saved eight migrants from sub-Saharan countries trying to illegally cross the Strait of Gibraltar toward western Spain. The rescue operation took place near the coast of the occupied city of Ceuta after the Moroccan Royal Navy saw a boat heading toward Cadiz from the Moroccan coast. All the immigrants on the boat have been rescued and were in good health. Moroccan authorities took them to the port of Tangier to take further action regarding their illegal immigration. After the King of Morocco expressed concern about the miserable conditions of immigrants, the government launched in January an operation to give residency permits to tens of thousands of immigrants living in the country illegally.Nearly all sub-Saharan Africans who managed to provide evidence that they had lived in Morocco for a considerable period of time were given permits.Because of its proximity to Spain, Morocco has become one of the key smuggling routes for illegal migrants crossing into Europe from Africa.© Morocco World News. As the UK car industry posts its highest manufacturing figures since 2007, SMMT is showcasing the sector’s diversity in an exhibition of three very different cars at its Westminster headquarters. The Bentley Continental GTC V8 is one of the UK’s globally appealing premium products, while Nissan’s new Qashqai – set to follow in its predecessor’s footsteps as Britain’s most-built car – represents the UK’s prowess in volume manufacturing. The Radical RXC Turbo, meanwhile, is one of the UK’s many low-volume high-performance sports cars.As well as having a manufacturing presence in the UK, all three brands on display also design and engineer cars here – which are then exported on a global scale. With the company’s global headquarters based in Crewe, Cheshire, each Bentley model is designed, engineered and produced in the UK. Employing around 4,000, the plant produced more than 10,000 cars in 2013, with the value of its exports in the previous year exceeding £1 billion. The Contintental GTC V8 on display is Bentley’s most efficient model to date, while the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged unit still boasts a maximum power output of 500bhp and 660Nm torque.Nissan’s latest Qashqai is also a truly home grown product, having been designed in London and engineered at the firm’s Technical Centre in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, before being assembled at its Sunderland plant. The most productive manufacturer in the UK, Nissan built more than 500,000 Juke, Note and Qashqai models in Sunderland last year. With full-scale production of the new Qashqai starting this week, the Sunderland workforce now numbers over 7,000 for the first time in the plant’s 28-year history. In all, Nissan’s UK manufacturing operations support 40,000 jobs across the country.Peterborough-based Radical exports its unique brand of low-volume road and race cars to customers in Europe, the Far East, the Americas and Australia. The firm’s RXC Turbo was launched in 2013, and marked Radical’s first foray into the supercar market. The RXC has been designed to be as aerodynamic as possible, hence its Le Mans racer-like appearance. The 3.5-litre turbocharged Ford EcoBoost engine – also conceived in the UK – develops 454bhp, enough to power the 940kg car from 0-60 in just 2.6 seconds and on to 184mph. At this speed, the RXC generates 900kg downforce. For more information on the UK automotive industry’s manufacturing successes in 2013, see SMMT’s full year manufacturing figures.Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)
Ohio State senior offensive lineman Billy Price (54) talks to linemen Michael Jordan (73) and Jamarco Jones (74) prior to a play in the second quarter of the B1G Championship game against Wisconsin on Dec. 2 in Lucas Oil Stadium. Ohio State won 27-21. Credit: Jack Westerheide | Managing Editor for DesignOhio State offensive line coach Greg Studrawa took no time in changing the outlook of his new unit when he was hired prior to the start of the 2016 season. After switching the most experienced guard to the center position in each of his first two seasons with the Buckeyes, Studrawa could be in a similar position with junior guard Michael Jordan heading into 2018. The third-year starter at left guard was taking snaps for the Buckeyes as a part of the second-team offensive line during fall practice. The decision to play a guard at center has become something of a trend for Studrawa. Without an obvious answer to fill the center position in 2016, Studrawa moved guard Pat Elflein to the middle. The Pickerington, Ohio native ended up thriving, winning the Rimington Trophy as the best center in college football and taking home the Rimington-Pace Offensive Lineman of the Year Award in the Big Ten. Studrawa did not stop there. After Elflein departed to the NFL, the second-year offensive line coach made the switch again, this time with fifth-year senior guard Billy Price. The outcome was the same. Price won the Rimington Trophy and was named a first-team All-American at center in 2017. Having watched both Elflein and Price move from guard to the starting center, now fifth-year center Brady Taylor seemed to be in the position to seamlessly transition into the starting role as Ohio State’s first true center since Jacoby Boren in 2015. Despite being recruited as a three-star offensive tackle in the 2014 class, Taylor has played in 29 games for the Buckeyes, recording 55 snaps against UNLV and 41 snaps against Illinois last season. As the only true freshman to start during the 2016 season, Jordan was named as a Freshman All-American in 2016 and first-team All-Big Ten team member after the 2017 season. However, the move for Jordan could be because of something not related to the center position at all. With the main objective being to get the best five offensive lineman on the field at one time, Jordan, senior tackle Isaiah Prince and redshirt senior Demetrius Knox seem to be locks on the line. Also, after playing in 12 of 14 games last season, sophomore Thayer Munford seems to be in a good position to take a starting tackle spot. With four spots filled on the line, that leaves one: center or, possibly, left guard. Studrawa has linemen with experience to fill those spots, with junior Branden Bowen coming off of a leg injury, and redshirt senior Malcolm Pridgeon, who is in in his third season with the program. When it comes down to it, the final spot on the offensive line could come down to a simple question: who is the best lineman between Bowen, Pridgeon and Taylor? If it is Pridgeon or Bowen that takes the final spot on the line and Jordan moves to center for his junior season, Studrawa can be confident that it will work out just fine. He has the track record to prove it.

Only last Tuesday at Cabinet this matter was raised and so we will have to find creative solutions to the problem of rising fuel prices. I understand though that in the past week or so prices have trended downwards. I believe prices have fallen back to about sixty-something dollars per barrel from the high seventy-something,” Minister Jordan said.In addition, he noted the opposition calls for a previously used tax formula to be employed to ease the burden of increased fuel prices on citizens. However, he said while the previous administration was able to forego taxes to maintain fuel prices in the past, the conditions now were different.“They say they had a formula in place where they used to reduce the excise tax so that people used to buy gas at the same price they used to buy before. I’m aware that indeed they had such a formula, but this is not only about whether government will still get the same amount of revenues that they had budgeted. It also has that external side… the side that has to do with finding the foreign currency to buy the same quantity of gas that you were consuming when the prices were low,” Minister Jordan said in a Department of Public Information (DPI) release. In September 2017, world market prices for fuel increased due in part to the hurricane conditions in the southern hemisphere, which resulted in GuyOil adjusting the prices in gasoline, diesel and kerosene to a higher cost.Again, in February of this year, Guyana Oil Company (GuyOil) adjusted its prices upwards. GuyOil currently sells gasoline for approximately $220 per litre. The protest held in front of the Ministry of FinanceJordan’s comments comes on the heels of protest from Rice farmers and producers, on Thursday last in front of the Ministry of Finance office, who were calling on Government to review its tax policies on fuel with a view to ease the “burden” on the productive sector. At the protest demonstration, the Guyana Rice Producers Association (RPA) urged Government to reintroduce a sliding tax rate for rice farmers in light of the high cost of fuel and especially in light of ongoing period of land preparation. While on the protest line, General Secretary of the RPA Dharamkumar Seeraj told the media that the sliding tax rate method is easy and would not add any unnecessary burden to the budget.“The way it works is that when the price for fuel goes up on the World Market, the tax comes down so the price at the pump remains the same so it’s not rocket science and most importantly from the Government’s point of view, this will not affect the target budgeted for,” he explained.Further, Seeraj reasoned that if the price for fuel increases and Government reduces the percentage of taxes on fuel, they can still achieve their target.“If you implement that sliding rate, the country benefits. Production will go up, you’ll become more competitive on the export market and that is what a country needs,” he asserted. The RPA said farmers, who are currently harvesting, have been experiencing an increase in transportation costs from an average of $200 to $800 per bag, because access to their farmlands is poor.Additionally, most farmers are currently involved in land preparation exercises and sowing of their fields, where most fuel is being used compared to the crop duration, so the increase is coming at a really bad time for the farmers. As reported, the fuel woes are compounded by challenges of readily accessing fertilisers owing to financial challenges. The RPA has since said that the “good life” that the A Partnership for National Unity/Alliance For Change (APNU/AFC) Government promised was wanting, adding that the Administration’s inaction on the matter was not an option. In April 2017, Mahaica farmers, whose main source of income is rice, along with cash crops, said that the taxation measures were “harsh” to them.
28 top clubs from 18 different nations/leagues are competing in the VELUX EHF Champions League this year. The competition is played with 14 rounds in the group phase, last 16 (unless a team is qualified directly) and quarter-finals, altogether a maximum of 18 matches. The four semi-finalists will meet at the VELUX EHF FINAL4 in Cologne on 26/27 May 2018. The EHF will continue to coordinate with German teams to find the best possible solutions but the decision to play Thursdays/Sundays in the Bundesliga means limited options and more pressure on German teams playing at the top level in Europe and the Bundesliga at the same time. Unfortunately this will remain inevitable throughout the season. Source: EHF The EHF has worked closely with participating clubs and TV partners to find the best solutions on the match days allocated for the playing of the VELUX EHF Champions League (Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday) – match days agreed and coordinated with the top leagues in Europe, including Germany’s Handball Bundesliga. The Bundesliga schedule effectively eliminates Wednesday as a possible match day and, with Saturday a preferred match day in many nations due to fan interest and TV contracts, it is likely that German teams will be required to play Thursdays in the Bundesliga and Saturdays in the VELUX EHF Champions League. European Handball Federation published official statement after media stories linked with huge problems with schedule which have German teamsa – participants of the VELUX EHF Champions League 2017/2018.Decision by German Handball Bundesliga to play matches on Thursday and Sunday from this season means added pressure on top German clubs playing in European competition.Following the start of the new season, a number of questions have been raised in the international media regarding the scheduling of matches for German teams in the VELUX EHF Champions League. Already this season, as a combined result of the Bundesliga schedule, limited availability of arenas and the need to respect the requirements of each home team, Rhein-Neckar Löwen will have to play on Saturday (11 November 2017) in the Bundesliga and, having found no other possible date for the match, on Sunday (12 November 2017) in the VELUX EHF Champions League in Barcelona. With three clubs participating – Rhein-Neckar Löwen, Flensburg-Handewitt and THW Kiel – 34 rounds of competition in the Bundesliga, the limited availability of arenas, contractual requirements with TV partners and the need to coordinate with existing national league and cup programmes across Europe, the scheduling of matches for German teams in the VELUX EHF Champions League will always be a challenge. However, the decision by the management of the Handball Bundesliga to play its league matches on Thursdays and Sundays from the start of the new season – a decision made without any consultation with the EHF – has resulted in a much more difficult situation for German teams from both a scheduling and sporting perspective. ← Previous Story VIDEO: Which is your favorite coaching style? Instead, Western Interiors has managed to convince its investors to put another “several million dollars” into the magazine. ‘They realize it’s not the end of the magazine world, it’s a dip in the economy and they need to help us through it,” says Matthews. “We sat down with them and explained it. They knew we are going to have to be funded to withstand this year. We are going to prosper in the near future—they’re not in this for sheer pleasure. These guys want to sell the magazine some day and they chose not to right now.”Western Interiors is putting several initiatives in place to try to spark spending, including live events. The magazine is currently hosting a VIP Lounge at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and will host an “outdoor chic” rooftop event in New York City in May. The magazine is also gearing up for its biggest issue of the year (April/May), featuring the Gold List, an annual list of interior designers, architects and landscape designers featured in the magazine. In 2007, that issue was Western Interior’s first to break 100 ad pages. In 2008, the issue slipped to 85 and Western Interiors is looking for ways to keep spending up. “This year we’re going to put a little more muscle behind it by polling these designers/architects,” Matthews said. “Consumers want to know what brands they are specifying and we’ll publish those later in the year.” They also introduced a “Power Buy” which offers price breaks to advertisers who commit to at least six ads per year. The magazine will launch a new product this spring called Modern Dream Homes, the first in a planned series of high-end special-focused publications. “We would hope that the net would be at least 10 percent of the revenue by the end of 2010,” she said. “This additional funding will help to cover the shortage of revenue from any lost ad pages during this touch economic time.” Recapitalization will determine the fate of many magazines in 2009, including those who were healthy up through much of 2008. Green magazine Plenty shuttered this week and publisher Mark Spellun told Portfolio that the magazine’s financing had simply “dried up.” Mediabistro reported that Evening Post Publishers Co. will stop publishing Garden & Gun as of January 31, while Garden & Gun publisher Rebecca Darwin said the magazine is “actively engaged in discussion with investors.” In 2007, Western Interiors & Design was the leader in ad page growth in a category that included heavyweights such as Architectural Digest and Elle Décor. But by late 2008, with the economy plunging toward recession and shelter and home magazines among the many categories feeling the brunt, the title knew it needed additional funding to weather the storm. “It’s not like we weren’t able to make payroll. We didn’t have to close anything or lay anyone off,” publisher Jennifer Matthews told me. “We’ve been streamlining and we’ve dropped our paper costs, although not the quality.” Some savvy buyers were also circling Western Interiors & Design, thinking its investors might want to sell the magazine (which generates between $5 million and $10 million in annual revenue) at a favorable price. “When it became clear there were some offers to buy the magazine, the investors said, ‘No, we believe in the magazine, we know it’s going to pay off when we get through this dip in the economy and any sale price will be much higher,’” she said.

With salmon fishing just a few short months away, the Federal Subsistence Board will consider a special action request to limit king salmon harvest in the Kuskokwim drainage to federally qualified subsistence users.Download AudioSteven Maxie is the tribal administrator for the Napaskiak Traditional Council, the group that made the request. They are asking for the change because of the anticipated strict king salmon closures.“Well it will give us hope, all this winter, we are hearing there’s going to be pretty good restrictions, that there won’t be much open opportunity for subsistence fishing for Chinook. It creates hopelessness for the people,” Maxie said.Federally qualified subsistence users are people who are residents of rural communities and live in a community or area with a customary and traditional use determination. In this case, they must live in the Kuskokwim River fishery management area. Maxie says the people here are the ones whose livelihood depends on king salmon.“We don’t need people coming in from the big cites or the state coming in to participate because during these conservation measures, we should focus on local people to harvest our Chinook. We’ll share it, but we want to try this,” Maxie said. The tribe also wants to have what is known as a section 804 analysis, named from the portion of the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act, or ANILCA that can determine how to restrict the resource further among subsistence users. It depends on three criteria: customary and direct dependence upon king salmon as the mainstay of livelihood, local residency, and the availability of alternative resources. The proposal will first go to the Yukon Kuskokwim Regional Advisory Council for a recommendation. The Federal Subsistence board can then take up the request. The Office of Subsistence Management is currently analyzing the proposal with partner agencies. There will be a regional advisory council meeting at 10am on April 7th at Yuut Elitnaurviak to discuss the proposal and a public hearing, at 1pm on April 8th.The board is also accepting comments.Fax: (907) 786-3333E-mail: email@example.com.
Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi meets prime minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganobhaban on Saturday. This is a big challenge for Bangladesh…this is Myanmar’s internal problem, but this is affecting Bangladesh,” Ihsanul Karim quoted the Chinese foreign minister as saying. The Chinese foreign minister said his country does not want the activities of BCIM Economic Corridor to slow down because of the Rohingya issue.Sheikh Hasina urged the Chinese foreign minister to mount pressure on Myanmar to take back their nationals. She said Bangladesh has given shelter to over one million Rohingyas on humanitarian ground. “Myanmar will have to take back their nationals ensuring their safety, security and dignity for a durable solution to the crisis,” she said.Hasina mentioned that Rohingyas are Myanmar nationals and they have to take back their citizens from Bangladesh as the relations between Bangladesh and Myanmar are good. The prime minister narrated the plight of the Rohingya people in Bangladesh, especially the women and children, and said a good number of Rohingya women are pregnant.Iterating the government’s stance not to allow the land of Bangladesh for using by any terrorist group to commit any acts of insurgency in neighbouring countries, she said, “This is our firm decision.”The Chinese foreign minister recalled prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s visits to China in 2010 and 2014 as well as the visit of the Chinese president to Bangladesh in October last year.He said he is now touring Bangladesh to see the progress of Strategic Partner Cooperation that the two countries agreed for it during the Chinese president’s visit to Bangladesh. On Bangladesh-China economic cooperation, Wang Yi said his country’s concessional loan now has crossed five billion dollars. “China wants to help Bangladesh more under the South-South cooperation,” he said. The Chinese foreign minister also conveyed their president’s greetings to Sheikh Hasina.

Kolkata: Saifa Khatun, a resident of Amta in Howrah, has cleared the Madhyamik Examination this year at an astonishing age of 11.Being underage, it wasn’t smooth sailing for Saifa to appear for the examination as there were some technical issues. Initially, she was denied permission. The family members of the girl had subsequently sought the intervention of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who extended her help. The family members then contacted the officials of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE), who told them that she had to appear for an examination conducted by the Board before getting a go-ahead from it. A rule of WBBSE says that external candidates have to appear for the examination to get the permission for finally sitting for the Madhyamik Examination. In normal cases, students appear for the examination at the age of 15-16 years. Interestingly, Saifa never went to a school but was always confident that she would score good marks in the examination. She used to study at her home, with her parents being her only teachers. During her television interview with a vernacular channel on Tuesday, Saifa said that she had completed the studies of Class X when she was just 6-years-old. Her father used to collect books for her. “I started reading English newspapers at the age of 2. I want to scrutinise some of my papers where I obtained less marks than what I deserved. I want to follow the right procedure in this regard. I am very fond of studying Geography and Life Science and want to become a doctor,” Saifa said.

Source = e-Travel Blackboard: N.J Being featured in the Oprah down under special has started to impact awareness of the Northern Territory, attracting up to 1,000 NT website clicks before the show even went to air. Northern Territory Tourism Minister Malarndirri McCarthy told e-Travel Blackboard that spending $500,000 between the NT government and NT operators has served the region, receiving up to $9 million worth in advertisement prior to the episode’s release in the US. Ms McCarthy said the Oprah tapings gave the NT an opportunity to promote leisure tourism and the region has already received mass interest.“The NT website received about 1,000 hits before the show aired and we received 2,000 fans on Facebook from the US,” Ms McCarthy said. Ms McCarthy added that although the impact of Oprah’s visit proved successful, the territory is waiting to see the overall effect long term. The Tourism Minister said the TV hosts visit gave the region an opportunity to show off its leisure tourism which is the region’s focus for the moment. “We are focusing on promoting the NT as a leisure destination but one of the things airlines look for when they select a destination is both business and leisure travel,” she told e-Travel Blackboard.“It can’t just be all about leisure is had to include business travel.”Late last year AirAsia signed on to launch flights into Darwin, promoting the NT to the growing Asian market. Ms McCarthy said that although it was too soon to see a large impact from the relationship, “the people of Darwin are pleased to have an extra airline and that is definitely good news for AirAsia”.In a bid to expand relations with airlines, Ms McCarthy travelled to the Middle East last year, meeting with the region’s carriers to endorse the NT’s existence. “We are always lobbying for airlines to continue looking at us, so we can offer choice to travellers,” she said.“Last year the Middle Eastern carrier Etihad began a codeshare with Virgin Blue and that helped us tap into the European market and it also gives us a chance to build new relationships.”Ms McCarthy is travelling across Australia this week with the annual NT Muster.
