DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa has repaid $1,900 to the Office of Tax and Revenue after a newspaper questioned her about a tax break she had been claiming on her condo in Washington for years. The Des Moines Register, which brought the issue to Ernst’s attention, reports that she wrote a check to the agency’s Washington, D.C. office last week.A spokesman for the first-term Republican says the homestead tax credit claim was made in error and immediately returned when it was brought to the senator’s attention. The credit only applies to a homeowner’s primary residence, and Washington’s homestead tax application instructions specify that Congressional members are generally ineligible.Public records show Ernst had claimed the exemption in Washington and Iowa since 2016.It’s unclear if Ernst will face any penalty for the claim.
The Rhinos put a £250,000 valuation on Segeyaro earlier this month and are taking legal advice over his decision to renege on his contract with the club to remain in Australia.Segeyaro’s deal at Headingley does not expire until 2018, but they have moved to plug his inevitable departure by securing Parcell for an undisclosed fee.”We are delighted to have signed Matt and look forward to welcoming him to the Rhinos,” said Leeds head coach Brian McDermott.”He is a player we have been monitoring for a while and were keen to bring him here before his move to Manly.”His natural abilities will certainly suit the style of play in Super League, however we are also conscious that it will take time for him to settle into this pivotal role in the team.”He is a smart player with a great rugby league pedigree and I am sure he will be a big hit with the Rhinos fans.”Parcell, who featured 15 times during the 2016 NRL season after joining Manly from Brisbane, will link up with Leeds in the new year ahead of the start of the Super League season in February.”I’m excited to have signed a deal with Leeds Rhinos,” said the 24-year-old.”After talking to (chief executive) Gary (Hetherington) and Brian I think the brand of football they want to play is really going to suit my game.”Playing in England has always been something that I have wanted to do and I’m looking forward to the move.”Sky sources suggest that this deal is part of a long term relationship that Leeds and Manly are looking to develop.
Juan Cala put on the hero’s cape on Friday to score, in the 92nd minute, the goal that gave more than three points against Racing. Cádiz accumulated four days without winning and the ball was getting bigger and heavier. This victory is the turning point that the whole of Álvaro Cervera needed to subtract pressure and continue working to correct errors more calmly. The Sevilla player knows the importance of victory. “The team needed a win like that at the last minute and all together. We needed to be aware. even the fans, that until 93 ’, we could win the game.”Although the goal has only one author, Cala insists that everyone made it possible. “I found that ball and hit him with the soul of everyone who was there pushing, the whole team and all the cadists were there, pushing for that ball to enter.”.Despite the victory, Cádiz did not give his best version and there is still much to improve. Cala says that this victory will serve to be the same as the first round. “When you are in that streak the important thing is to win to take off that slab.” He insists that there will be no easy rivals “it will cost us blood, sweat and tears to win in Carranza, because everyone plays something, play off, relegation, promotion …” affirms the center. “I knew that the good results were going to come,” says the Sevillian. In addition, he sent a message of calm for the rest of the season “we have the automatisms created and we will continue to develop them to be in the high zone all season.”For Cala it is also important the message that is launched to the chasing teams with the victory against Racing, “this Cádiz has reawakened” says the player.Beyond the importance of a goal In time of prolongation that stopped the bad dynamics of the team are its therapeutic effects. This festive success has raised the Cadista fans of their depression after a bad run that had made him provisionally lose the lead. Cádiz has returned.Nano Mesa’s injuryNano Mesa had to retire in the first quarter of an hour after suffering a strong entrance near the front of the Racing area. This action was in the first instance the yellow card for Iñaki Olaortua, and after being reviewed by the VAR, the expulsion. After several medical examinations, it is confirmed that Nano Mesa suffers a sprained ankle that will keep him removed from the competition for at least three weeks.Racing has shown its concern for Tenerife through its social networks, “we hope that the launch is in a scare. Our best wishes and speedy recovery for Nano Mesa.” Bad dortina the striker who hopes to return soon.
The injury is different to the hamstring tear that ruled him out for three and half months.“After the game against Real Sociedad, Dembele had a problem with his left thigh and tests have confirmed that the player has suffered a hamstring injury of the semitendinosus muscle that does not affect the area operated on earlier in the season,” Barcelona said in a statement published on their website.“The injury will mean he will be out for a period of around three to four weeks.”He now faces a race against time to be ready for the first leg of Barca’s Champions League tie against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on February 20.Dembele only returned at the start of this month after tearing his hamstring in September. The fitness problems have blighted the start of his career at Barcelona following his 105-million-euro ($124 million) move from Borussia Dortmund in August that could rise to as much as 145 million euros.Barcelona also said that Andres Iniesta “has a problem in his right calf and his recovery will determine his return to action for the coming matches.”Iniesta was an unused substitute in Sunday’s game as Barcelona came from two goals down to win 4-2 at Anoeta.Ernesto Valverde’s side are already unable to call on new record signing Philippe Coutinho until the end of the month after he arrived with a thigh injury following his Spanish record 160 million-euro transfer from Liverpool.0Shares0000(Visited 1 times, 1 visits today) 0Shares0000Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele (left) in action against Levante during a Spanish league match at the Camp Nou stadium on January 7, 2018 © AFP/File / Josep LAGOBARCELONA, Spain, Jan 15 – Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele has been ruled out for “three to four weeks” in a new blow for the French forward, his club announced on Monday.Dembele hurt himself after coming off the bench in the second half of Sunday’s 4-2 win away to Real Sociedad in La Liga.

2 Gareth Southgate dropped a heavy hint that Jordan Pickford will be England’s World Cup number one by selecting him for the victory over Nigeria, but declined to publicly settle the issue with one more friendly to go.Southgate has yet to reveal whether Pickford or Jack Butland will be his first-choice goalkeeper in Russia but the scales tipped heavily in the Everton man’s favour as he was given 90 minutes in the 2-1 win at Wembley. That was only Pickford’s third senior cap, meaning another outing would surely be beneficial if he is to don the gloves against Tunisia on June 18. But when invited to put the issue to bed he demurred, opening a slim chance for Butland to play the final warm-up fixture at Elland Road on Thursday.“We’ll give consideration to who plays in goal against Costa Rica over the next 24 or 36 hours,” he said.“But I was really pleased with what Jordan did. Normally, when you play for England, there’s not an awful lot of opportunity to produce a lot of saves. But his decision making on crosses, the punch he made, his distribution and calmness to slide passes into midfield… that was really important to the way we want to play. He can be very pleased with his performance.”Barring a late change of heart, that endorsement should see the 24-year-old start his first competitive England match in the Group G opener in Volgograd. 2 Pickford got the nod for yesterday’s friendly against Nigeria
Fine Gael T.D. for Sligo, Leitrim, South Donegal and West Cavan Tony McLoughlin says that the HSE is considering the provision of a new fixed cardio catherisation laboratory at Sligo University Hospital. A cardio catheterization laboratory allows medical professionals to visualise the arteries and chambers of the heart by using diagnostic imaging equipment, allowing them to identify any abnormalities. The establishment of such a facility will benefit the people of Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, West Cavan, North Mayo, North Roscommon and the entire Northwest region. Chief Operations Officer of Saolta University Hospital Group, Ann Cosgrove told Deputy McLoughlin that she acknowledges his previouscorrespondence on the matter and that she can now confirm that the case has now been submitted by Saolta to the HSE for consideration. There has been much anger and frustration expressed by many politicians locallyabout the length of time it was taking for the Saolta Hospital Group to conduct this business case.McLoughlin stated that “A fixed Cardio Cath Lab for the Northwest region is an absolute priority for me and my office. All one needs to do is to take a look at a map of Ireland to see the true picture of this situation.“There is nothing in place above the straight-line from Dublin to Galway. The Northwest region and the people who live here are totally left out.” Plans for cardiac care lab in North-West submitted to HSE for consideration was last modified: August 23rd, 2017 by Elaine McCalligShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:cardio catheterization laboratorysligo
The much-touted feathers on certain dinosaurs may be nothing more than collagen fibers. An article on ABC France says “Dinosaur ‘feathers’ are no such thing.” Instead, it’s just decayed dermal collagen, like that found on sharks and reptiles. A South African team came to this conclusion after analyzing the alleged feathers on Sinosauropteryx. If their analysis is correct, this casts doubt on the birds-from-dinosaurs theory. The team lead called the idea a “reckless leap” from the evidence, and said, “There is not a single close-up representation of the integumental structure alleged to be a proto-feather.” He called for more scientific rigor in the analysis of these fossils. Nature Science Update also reported on this find, saying “Bald dino casts doubt on feather theory.” It says, “If Sinosauropteryx was indeed featherless, then it may be that feathers arrived on the evolutionary scene later than palaeontologists had thought.” But Nature downplayed the implications. David Unwin, paleontologist at the University of Leicester, said,“there’s no need to panic” about the implications of this find. He claimed, “This doesn’t in any way challenge the idea that dinosaurs had feathers and that dinosaurs gave rise to birds.” It just “throws into doubt the first step in feather evolution.” But Unwin echoed a common theme in evolutionary theories: “Things may be more complex than we thought.” PhysOrg was more dramatic. It said that this announcement “had the effect of a thunderclap” on scientists who had used the alleged feathers as evidence for bird evolution. “Palaeontologists have fired a broadside over a fossil which is the cornerstone evidence to back the theory that birds descended from dinosaurs.”Although we don’t want to make a conclusion based on one team’s analysis of one fossil, we agree more scientific rigor is called for. Notice how Nature was quick to hedge about the meaning of this disillusionment. The rest of the media that love to display artists’ reconstructions of feathered dinosaurs are strangely silent so far. We ought to be asking seriously, in the meantime, have we been sold a bill of goods (again) about feathered dinosaurs? (10/10/2005, 05/06/2004). We have often seen the propensity of the Darwinists to take flights of fancy based on lightweight evidence (cf. 02/08/2006, 09/27/2000).(Visited 31 times, 1 visits today)FacebookTwitterPinterestSave分享0
20 October 2010The Pretoria, Hatfield and Centurion stations for the Gautrain rapid rail link between Johannesburg, Pretoria and OR Tambo International Airport are due to be ready and operational by June 2011.South Africa’s first high-speed train cruises at between 160 and 180 kilometres per hour, which will enable commuters to travel between Johannesburg and Pretoria in well under 40 minutes. There will be six trains per hour in both directions, with the train operating approximately 18 hours per day.The Gautrain’s airport to Sandton link has been operating since the 2010 Fifa World Cup in June.Hatfield was selected as a Gautrain station for a number of reasons, including its accessibility from the N1 and N4 freeways. The two other Pretoria stations are Centurion (at Centurion Lake) and Pretoria (adjacent to the historic Pretoria main station).“The ticket offices, station control rooms and payment stations are standard components, but each station has its own brief and accommodation schedule,” Bombela spokesperson Kelebogile Machaka said during a media tour of the three stations last week. The offices and guard house located between the Rissik and Hartbeesspruit stations are complete but still need floor and wall tiling, Machaka said. The multi-storey parking garage for park-and-ride passengers is also complete. Only the floor tiling needs to be done. The railway line and platforms will be below ground level. Work is under way to ensure they are accessible by stairs and escalators from ground level, and also by lifts to accommodate passengers with disabilities.Construction for vehicle and bus parking is still at an early stage at the Pretoria station, but the closed-circuit television has been fitted. The offices and toilets are also complete.Rails have been laid at the 200 metre long station, but the automated machines are not yet fitted. Tiling at the platforms has not yet commenced.Source: BuaNews
