The Navy drained human smugglers and a group of illegal immigrants in the North seas today,The Navy media unit said that naval personnel onboard a fast attack craft attached to the Northern Naval Command intercepted a suspicious dinghy in the Northern seas and detained seven people. The dinghy was spotted 11 nautical miles north of Kankasanthure. They were taken to the naval base SLNS Uththara in Kankasanthurei and later handed over to the Kankesanthurai police. (Colombo Gazette) The Navy said that two human smugglers engaged in smuggling activities between India and Sri Lanka were detained together with two women, two men and a child.
